President al-Alimi: It's important to build on deterring Iranian regime to end threat of its militias
[12/04/2026 02:40]

RIYADH - SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Sunday, the U.S. Ambassador, Steven Fagin to the Republic of Yemen.

They discussed Yemeni-American bilateral cooperation and the ongoing coordination and partnership between the two countries in various fields, including confronting common security threats, securing international navigation routes, supporting the government's efforts to achieve economic and institutional stability and eliminating the coup of the Iranian regime backed terrorist Houthi militias.

President al-Alimi celebrated the Yemeni-American robust relationship, highly appreciating the American constant support for the Yemeni people and its political leadership, particularly the decision about designating Houthi militias as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and the subsequent measures against the financing and smuggling networks associated with them.

The President touched upon the government's ongoing efforts to make financial and administrative reforms, to mitigate the repercussions of regional changes on living conditions and the required American and international support at all levels.

In this context, the President highlighted the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its honorable stances alongside the Yemeni people and their political leadership in various stages and circumstances.

The Chairman of the PLC warned that the current calm following the defeat of the Iranian regime could lead to the repositioning of its militias and using them as a bargaining chip to improve its negotiating conditions.

He also underlined the importance of dismantling the narratives of the sectarian groups associated with Iranian doctrine, which seek to turn defeats into stories of victory and to use periods of calm for repositioning, rather than for changing behavior that destabilizes the region's security and the interests of its peoples.
