Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Lt. Gen. Mahmoud al-Subaihi has emphasized importance of integrating cultural heritage protection plans with tourism strategies to ensure the sustainability of cultural and tourism resources and to achieve tangible economic and social impact.
This came during his meeting Monday with the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mutea Dammaj as part of efforts to follow up on initiatives aimed at enhancing the cultural and tourism landscape in the country and exploring ways to develop this vital sector, which represents a key pillar for economic and social advancement.
Lt. Gen. al-Subaihi affirmed that culture and tourism are not merely service sectors, but fundamental pillars of any comprehensive development process, given their role in strengthening national identity, attracting investments and creating job opportunities.
The Council member also pointed to the current challenges facing the cultural and tourism sectors, calling for intensified efforts to address these difficulties by strengthening coordination among various government entities, developing work mechanisms and improving responsiveness to emergencies and unforeseen issues.
Al-Subaihi listened to a detailed presentation delivered by Minister Dammaj on ongoing programs and projects in this field, aimed at preserving national heritage, developing tourism infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of services provided to both visitors and citizens.
Minister Dammaj affirmed the continuation of serious efforts to implement approved field plans and to elevate the level of cultural and tourism performance through innovative programs and qualitative activities that highlight cultural identity and boost tourism appeal.
