Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Afrah al-Zouba met Monday with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif, discussing with her ways to develop bilateral cooperation and enhance partnership in development and institutional fields.

This include support of the government’s efforts to implement reforms and achieve economic recovery.

The meeting addressed the latest developments in the institutional assessment of the Ministry of Planning, which is being conducted with British support, and ways to benefit from its outcomes in strengthening the ministry’s role as a central coordination point for international cooperation.

It also discussed mechanisms to improve coordination among various development partners, enhance the efficiency of implementing ongoing and future programs and projects, and address the challenges they face.

The Minister of Planning expressed the Yemeni government’s appreciation for the continued British support, which includes backing institutional and financial reform programs, strengthening the capacities of state institutions, contributing to the Yemen fund at the World Bank, and supporting humanitarian and development programs in vital sectors such as health, water, governance, rule of law, and the empowerment of women and youth.

Minister al-Zouba also reviewed the outcomes of her recent meetings with several international partners, emphasizing the importance of enhancing integration and coordination among development partners in the coming phase, in order to achieve tangible and sustainable results on the ground.

For her part, the British Ambassador reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to continuing support for Yemen and assisting the government’s efforts in implementing reforms and advancing economic recovery in a way that promotes stability and improves living conditions for citizens.

Both sides agreed on the importance of maintaining continuous coordination and regular consultations to ensure greater efficiency and effectiveness of development programs, align them with the priorities of the government program and strengthen their impact in supporting sustainable development pathways.
