MARIB – SABA
King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) launched Friday the distribution of 200 shelter tents and 300 shelter kits to displaced families affected by the recent weather depression in Marib Governorate.
This comes within the fifth phase of the Emergency Shelter Plan Project in Yemen, implemented by the Human Access Association – Marib branch.
The Deputy Governor for Administrative Affairs Abdullah al-Bakiri emphasized the importance of this emergency intervention in partially alleviating the suffering of beneficiary families affected by strong winds, heavy rains, and fires in displacement camps.
He pointed out that the onset of summer, which coincides with the rainy and storm season, increases the already significant needs of displaced families in camps, particularly in shelter, housing, food and medical care.
He also praised KSrelief’s humanitarian interventions across various sectors and its support for local authorities in meeting part of the essential needs of the large numbers of displaced persons hosted by the governorate, who—according to UN reports—account for more than 62 percent of the total internally displaced population in the country.
For his part, the Director of the Human Access Association office in Marib, Nabil Lotf, explained that the Emergency Shelter Plan Project aims to help meet the growing humanitarian needs of displaced families affected by floods, winds and disasters in Yemen.
