Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Afrah al-Zouba held discussions today, Sunday, in the temporary capital Aden, with Vice President of the World Bank (WB) for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan Osman Dione over joint efforts to expand development support for Yemen.
The talks covered topics related to projects and activities implemented and funded by the Bank through UN and international organizations in the areas of basic services, infrastructure, institutional reforms and capacity building.
The current economic and humanitarian situations as well as the challenges facing the government were also touched on.
The two sides also underscored the importance of shifting support from humanitarian work to the path of sustainable development, while continuing to support the most vulnerable groups, as well as focusing on vital sectors, especially energy, infrastructure and education.
The Vice Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nazar Basuhaib, the Under-Secretaries of the Ministry's deputies the WB Regional Director Stephan Guimbert, the Director of the WB Office in Yemen Dina Abu Ghaida and the Bank specialists contributed to the discussions.
