Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Mustafa Noman held an expanded virtual meeting on Thursday with heads of Yemen’s diplomatic missions in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as well as Jordan and Iraq.

In a statement to Saba, the meeting—bringing together ambassadors to Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, and Iraq, along with the Chargé d’Affaires at Yemen’s embassy in Saudi Arabia and the head of the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Department at the Foreign Ministry—focused on the conditions of Yemeni communities in host countries.

Discussions addressed the situation of stranded Yemenis in light of the repercussions of the war and the Iranian attacks on GCC states, as well as broader consular and humanitarian concerns.

Heads of mission presented oral briefings on recent developments and offered a number of observations and recommendations aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of Yemeni nationals.

They also expressed appreciation for the cooperation of host governments and the support and facilitation extended to Yemeni communities.

For his part, the vice minister commended the efforts of the heads of mission in closely following up on citizens’ conditions, affirming that their recommendations will be submitted to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates for consideration and appropriate action.

The meeting also agreed to hold such consultations on a regular basis to strengthen coordination and communication between the ministry and its missions abroad.
