RIYADH-SABA
Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Abdulrahman Sheikh, discussed on Thursday with Japan’s Ambassador to Yemen, Yoichi Nakashima, areas of joint cooperation and ways to enhance development and economic interventions in the governorate.

In a statement to Saba, the meeting reviewed key humanitarian and development interventions implemented by the Japanese government during 2024–2025, covering sectors such as education, healthcare, vocational training, and institutional capacity building, in addition to support for economic recovery programs and livelihoods through partnerships with international and UN organizations.

The two sides also discussed expanding qualitative interventions across several vital sectors, particularly healthcare and infrastructure, and emphasized the importance of integrating environmental considerations into development projects. Discussions highlighted renewable energy—especially solar power—as a strategic solution to longstanding challenges in the electricity sector and a means to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources.
