RIYADH - SABA
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani received today, Thursday, the United Nations (UN) Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg.
Mr. Grundberg briefed Dr. Zindani on the outcomes of his recent communications and consultations, including the progress of the negotiations to complete the implementation of the agreement on the exchange of detainees, kidnapped and forcibly disappeared persons.
They also conferred over peace prospects and challenges facing the resumption of the political process amid the continued intransigence of the Houthi terrorist militia.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government's affirmation of its full commitment to the option of a just and comprehensive peace, based on national political solution references and the International Security Council resolutions.
He stated that the government has has positively engaged in all initiatives, yet the intransigence of the Houthi militia, its refusal to fulfill its obligations, its military and economic escalation and its deliberate undermining of any confidence-building measures have proven that the problem is not the absence of initiatives, but the absence of genuine will for peace on the part of the Houthis.
